RIP Wes Craven

by Skeelo

Aug '15
Well this sucks. I'm bummed out about this one. I know he was 76 but he always seemed so healthy. I had no idea he even had cancer.

But what a career he had. I enjoyed most of his movies, even My Soul To Take and Shocker. What are your faves?

Even though I wasn't the biggest fan of his, his death is a major bummer. I loved Last House on the Left and Nightmare on Elm Street, so this is a huge loss for the horror genre, even if he wans't a fan of the genre himself.

I always heard he wasn't a fan of the genre, but in interviews he seemed to talk about a lot of movies with knowledge and respect at least. Was he a fan of the classics? I watched him praise Dawn of the Dead recently

Wes Craven was a true class act. He seemed like such a cultured, down to earth individual in all the interviews he did, and everyone who's worked with him seemed to have much respect for him. His directorial credits showed a great diversity in his works, as this guy has tackled many of our beloved subgenres, including slashers, zombies, vampires, werewolves, rape/revenge, and more. Everything I've seen from the man (most of his movies) are all very solid films. Out of all the great horror directors out there, he was one of my absolute favorites.

RIP

* might I add, he had one of the coolest names of any horror director too. emoticon

Last House on the Left
The Hills Have Eyes
Nightmare on Elm Street
Deadly Friend
The People Under the Stairs
Scream

Whether a fan of his work or not, he left a mark on the horror genre. It's a loss that is felt.

A truly devestitaing loss. Everyone who worked with him has had nothing but good things to say, so it goes to show he was a geninuely awesome guy.

My favorite films from him include: A Nightmare on Elm Street, New Nightmare, The Last House on the Left, The Serpent and the Rainbow, Scream, Shocker, The People Under the Stairs, The Hills Have Eyes, Red Eye, and Deadly Friend.

The Serpent in the Rainbow is his best film. IMO. I like Deadly Blessing a lot. The first ANOES is good but dated and the sequels aren't as good as say the Friday the 13th sequels but he was important in the 80s for ANOES and it did influence the fun side of horror. RIP Mr. Craven

RIP. Not one of my favorites either, but he made some great fucking movies.

A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Last House on the Left, and The Serpent and the Rainbow are quality flicks.
