Bernie Wrightson - fantastic comic book artist and co-creator (w/ writer Len Wein) of Swamp Thing passed away on March 18. I haven't seen much fanfare about it, but Wrightson also did some incredible b/w artwork for a comic version of Frankenstein. When I say incredible, I mean incredibly detailed. I haven't figured out the image posting thing here yet but you can see an example at:

As Wrightson was fond of saying, "Welcome and stay eerie!" i hope he found some like-minded souls wherever he is now.

Yeah, his Frankenstein's monster is a little Swampy. Personal style.

I like those two Swamp Thing films too. Durock also played him in a live-action TV show. It was geared more towards kids with moral lessons - but that fit in very well with the original character. I watched the first disc from netflix but cancelled my subscription before I could watch any more. Swamp Thing toys sound awesome.

If you ever recall who that other comic artist is let me know, peeps. I don't read comix much anymore - but great artwork will often draw me in.

When I read old comics I always read the letter section and wonder what happened to some of those guys. Bernis was a fan like Harlan Ellison in the sci/fi world who managed to realize his dream.
