Bernie Wrightson - fantastic comic book artist and co-creator (w/ writer Len Wein) of Swamp Thing passed away on March 18. I haven't seen much fanfare about it, but Wrightson also did some incredible b/w artwork for a comic version of Frankenstein. When I say incredible, I mean incredibly detailed. I haven't figured out the image posting thing here yet but you can see an example at:

As Wrightson was fond of saying, "Welcome and stay eerie!" i hope he found some like-minded souls wherever he is now.

I've seen lots of his work before, but didn't know the name... never connected the dots. Excellent detail as yiu said. RIP Mr Wrightson.

There was a late 80s early 90s comic artist whose work reminds me of his. Can't think of the main comic I had of his back in the 90s. It was a real violent, mayhem thing though.

Been trying to think of the comic ever since I posted.... it was in B&W similar in detailed style to Wrightson, very violent (eyeballs being gouged out, etc), likely supernatural and a one-word title/one-syllable, if memory is correct. I bought it wen it came out ~1989-91. I'll keep thinking. emoticon
