So here are the results of the subtitled/foreign movie challenge and what do you know, the person who proclaims they don't like watching subtitled movies takes the first crown. Congratulations to Tromafreak, because you also watched the most amount of movies, at one per day on average. Hopefully if you take anything from this victory, it's that you won't feel so reluctant to check out a non-dubbed foreign movie in future emoticon. Well done!

Also bravo to anyone else who hit around the 2,000+ minutes mark. December can be a busy month for most people and I ended up watching one too many movies with the kids over Christmas so my own performance was pretty poor.. and considering Johan got almost twice as many points at me but at least I wasn't last.. Nicko had a good excuse for getting 0 but Box?! Not one movie, come on, try harder next time! emoticon.

emoticon.

Ah that's a pity, but I guess it's not too late to add them as long as the total does not surpass Troma's emoticon.

Nah. Results are already posted. I'm going to try to keep up with the 2019 viewings thread though. Gotta say I'm pretty damn proud of Troma. I hope he'll watch more in the future.

Good job Markus & congrats to Troma!

this was a great challenge, esp with having the open genre alongside no time limit, saw a couple of decent shorts.

fell away over the festive period, as did most others understandably. Hope y'all had fun with this one, aside from box who is clearly lame.

highlights - Tampopo, ramen prep has never been funnier. Mr Vampire & In China They Eat Dogs were also hilarious treats, Spoorloos the best of my repeat views.

lowpoints - target was the only one i didnt really care for, although Sing a Song of sex id heard positive things about and it was fairly dull.

I fucked up royally on this challenge. I just couldn't get into the right mindset to watch these movies, let alone many other movies. I watched maybe a dozen movies total this month, and none of them were foreign.

My mind has been all over the place. I get wild hairs up my butt, and I focus in on various coding projects, or I just work a lot. Or, I just get co-erced into doing stuff for other people, and don't have enough free time to do anything.

10 participants ain't a total loss, though. Hopefully, we'll get another decent challenge lined up. And hopefully, I'll have time to watch some of this shit. Nicko definitely has a better excuse than I do, though.

Not a bad consolation prize after the blood, sweat and tears I put into the turkey challenge, ending up with my usual runner up spot. Not that this has been confirmed yet, or anything. I had some fun with this, then, got bored, had some more fun, and got bored again. I intended on watching a lot more, but still surprised myself as I've never watched so many of these in one month, obviously. Sometimes, I like them ok, other times, it's the last thing I'd want to do. Depends on my mood. I'll definitely do this again if it comes up.

Loved those Meatball Machine movies, but I think my favorite FTV of the month was a Fantasy martial arts flick from China called The Battle Wizard (1977)

Thanks for hosting and for forcing some much needed horizon-expanding on me. emoticon

There are a whole bunch of those kind of fantasy martial arts movies you would probably enjoy. Better start saving them up for the end of this year emoticon.

Congrats again on your horizon-expanding win emoticon.

Thanks for hosting! It was a sweet month, I saw lots of good stuff. Especially, reminded myself how much I love Claude Chabrol. And finally got around to Kwaidan, which I've had at the back of a wardrobe for several years. I seem to recall ebossert isn't a fan but I think its among the best of any Japanese genre films I've seen. Lots more besides. Didn't see everything I planned to, family time burglary and so forth. But I guess it can roll over now. Good times all.

Had I been prepared better I could have ended higher up. I also watched quite a bit of English spoken movies which sadly did not count even though it's not my mother tongue. But since I don't need subs for those it made no sense to register them.
Thanks for hosting markus maybe next time I can do better but I'm content with P6.
