Okay so I apologize for any confusion in my previous post.

JUNE 2020 SLASHER CHALLENGE!!!!!

This challenge begins June 1st at midnight and will end on July 1st at midnight. ANY SLASHER MOVIE COUNTS. I'm not just limiting it to camp movies.

There are a few ways to earn points.
2pts if it is a FTV
1pt for each kill. It has to be by the killer!
1pt per slasher watched

*1 pt per slasher watched no matter what. If it is your FTV you still get the point for the per slasher watched.*

BONUS POINTS
1 bonus point if the final girl gets killed (Has to be in the same movie)

Bonus points if you watch an entire series. For example, if you watch all scream movies that's 4 extra points. *You can add it at the last movie of the series*

1 bonus point if it is a camp slasher movie Ex: sleepaway camp...etc

I was going to incorporate trifectas but the way I worded it didn't make any sense, so NO trifectas this challenge. Just based on points!

Again, I apologize for any confusion in my last post. I really hope this sounds better!

Please sign up down below! I hope you are all excited just as I am! emoticon

How'd you end up with only 8 points for Slumber Party Massacre 1? I watched that earlier today. Counted at least 11 kills.

I think the 5 kills were backstory and thus don't count. They should make a prequel film for that.

Who knows? I get stoned, mind wanders. I actually ran several scenes back to watch over again cuz I suspected I might have missed a point or 2. I don't know how the hell I missed that many. That's pretty sad. emoticon

I would like to say yes, but I searched to see if the movie would pop up under slasher but it only showed horror so I'll have to say no unfortunately

https://halloweenlove.com/how-final-destination-reinvented-the-modern-slasher-film/

https://bloody-disgusting.com/editorials/3613347/final-destination-expertly-blended-supernatural-thrills-slasher-brutality-aughta-know/

Even Wikipedia calls it a slasher
"films like Final Destination (2000) and Jeepers Creepers (2001) kept slasher film values in mainstream movies"

Death is the killer lol,

any way I'd preffer it not. The reason I asked is that 274 are killed in the plane crash alone, and everyone would have to watch it if they wanted to win, and I don't want to have to watch it lol

Interesting. I have never thought of this movie franchise this way. But this makes me look at it differently. I always knew death is the killer, but I guess since we all die eventually I never correlated it to being a slasher franchise.

But it did get me thinking. So the deaths in the plane crash happen in movie 1 and 5, so if this did count, which I agree it shouldn't, that would be double the points. Lol

Part 5 is the plane crash from the first movie since it's a prequel, so not sure if it would count twice.

That's why one might argue that only on-screen or somewhat on-screen kills ought should count. I'm of the mindset that a movie should never be worth hundreds of points, or the game gets out of hand really quick.

Ya it also makes me wonder about kills in flashbacks and things like that.

Troma and I were talking about something similar. I was curious about movies like Return to Horror High and April Fool's Day. Both endings of those movies show there is no body count. How do you count that?

You simply don't watch those movies unless you want FTV points I guess. It still thematically counts as a slasher, I'd think. If you're trying to watch April Fool's Day for the first time, that's the whole joke of it. Never saw Return to Horror High, but maybe I shouldn't?
