After a bit of a wait, the show finally premiered on Syfy, and what do you know, it's actually off to a strong start! I'm not sure I'll be able to keep up with the new episodes as they air, but I'm gonna try, damn it!

Our setup is pretty simple. A bullied middle school kid finds a Good Guy doll at a yard sale, and you can figure out where it goes from there. Of course, you've got Brad Dourif back where he belongs because Don Mancini is at the helm of this whole shindig, so he's doing it right. Apparently, we'll be seeing a lot of recurring characters from the series in later episodes, so there's always something to look forward to.

On a side note, Syfy was also advertising their remake of Slumber Party Massacre, which actually looks halfway decent.

I approve. Will definitely be sticking with this one. Curious to find out which movies will be acknowledged. I heard all of them but not convinced. But a better question is where does this show fit in? I'm guessing not after Cult. Cellular telephones seem pretty common, so, probably not between 3 and Bride, which I thought it might be before.

I see no reason why this movie wouldn't follow the last one. Wikipedia says it's a sequel to Cult, and since none of the movies attempt to be weird with the timeline (which is rather unique for a horror franchise that's gone on this long), what makes you think it's not a sequel to the previous one like all the others have been?

Despite the rights being somewhat scattered, the movies never conflict with each other as far as I know. We have Andy and we'll have Tiffany, so they're basically all canon already.

Well, Chucky finally getting out of the doll at the end of Cult was my first clue. Otherwise, I'd like to know how that was undid.

I wouldn't say the movies conflict with each other, but the transition from 3 to 4 is awkward, as is 4 to 5. Actually, everything after 3 feels like the latter half of the F-13 series where we're never completely sure what the hell's been going on between sequels. You could probably fit something in there somewhere.

I'm sure the Cult ending will be explained somehow. I think most of them are rather straight forward, but Cult did make things very weird, that's for sure.

Has to take place after Seed since Chucky mentions he has a gender fluid kid. That has to be Glen/Glenda he's referring to.

Did they even mention Glen/Glenda in the last movies? I think with a show format, they're more likely to tie up that loose end.

Aw! I love Glen/Glenda! He reminds me of Bowie in his Ziggy Stardust days.

Glen/Glenda can go crawl up Redman's ass and die.

TBH I think the whole Chucky universe sounds gay. Ok I have only seen the first movie and didn't bother with the rest. But a mother buying a faggy looking boy doll for her son, sounds pretty gay. In fact it's a lot weirder than buying him a Barbie doll. Now that would have impressed me much more a murderous hot chick doll. Basically Chucky is just serial killer trapped in a faggy doll. Or another better idea is that a mother bought Chucky doll for her daughter (would make more sense too) and Chucky eventually succeeds in getting his soul into the little girl, not only back to the kids days but gender swap too!

If you wanna see "gay", make your way to the fifth installment, Seed Of Chucky, where Chucky and his female doll girlfriend has a prissy little kid together who can't figure out his own gender, but decides to be both. That one should have been the death of the series, but the last couple have really gotten things back on track.

But yeah, that kid was a fag for wanting such a doll. Back in the 80's, we had these dolls called "my buddy", which were pretty similar, but don't remember ever wanting one, and certainly wouldn't have admitted it even if I did, LoL. They eventually came out with a girl version called "kid sister", I guess to make the boys feel less faggy for buying the original.

If you want to see some killer Barbies, there's always Jess Franco's Killer Barbys (1996). Haven't had the pleasure, but I'm guessing you'd be better off with Chucky.

I've never seen Killer Barbys either, but I'm fairly certain it has absolutely nothing to do with Barbie Dolls. And since it's from Jess Franco, I'm also fairly certain it's complete shit.

The man wasn't completely worthless but I definitely wouldn't trust anything from him after the early 80's.

Well thanks for the info but I don't think I really wanna see the fifth movie. I'm not a fan of Chucky anyway. emoticon
Oh and the gender fluid concept, the non-binary and I don't know which labels they have nowadays to make M/F sound like anomalies now. I fully support transgenders wanting to have the body to match their brain and I would look upon them as such. But the gender fluid concept defies a bit my logic. We are called men or women because of what is between our legs not because the way we act. As cool as I think to say ok today I want to be female but reality is I won't magically grow boobs and a pussy.

Female killer dolls I know of one (Dolls and Puppet Master taken out of consideration) and that is Dolly Dearest. It has potential but it's not really good.

Remembering the action figures like He-Man with most of them walking around in short pants it's pretty gay too. But hey as a kid whose brain is not yet spoiled by adult thoughts you don't really care. Take a look at Big Jim "dolls" and if you think that doesn't look gay, I don't know what is. Now they makes sure kids wouldn't be exposed to heroes/heroines being too "naked" or "hot". Take for example the She-Ra where they changed pretty much changed all girls into kids/teens with boyish/androgynous bodies. You know the SJW's and feminists like to get their hands on popular stuff from the past and mold it into their ideal "don't dare to disagree or you are homo/xenophobe" utopia.

You sure come off as a homophobe with your implication of gay/faggy things being a detriment. You know lesbians are gay, right? I know you wouldn't hate on them so much.

The series was written by a gay dude, but the gay overtones didn't hit until later in the series. Maybe you'd like Bride since there's a female doll in it. And before she takes on doll form, she has big tits. Big juicy titties.

Dear Box don't blow hot and cold as if you were the greatest defender of the LGBTQ community rights as that's nonsense. I know of your hatred for "The Lost Boys". That one has a lot more gay undertones than Chucky, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 or Fright Night. Shall I quote you that "there was no other reason to have that beefcake singing shirtless since the director is openly gay". You wouldn't say such things if it weren't bothering you.

I'm not homophobic but I'll admit I'm not a big fan of when a director tries to put these gay undertones in there as some kind of statement or fantasy. Of course things can get really bad for example the movies of Salva. Given he is convicted for sexually harassing a young boy, I'm rather puzzled why his movies ain't boycotted as his rape little boys fantasies are all over the place.

And considering lesbians, I'm not giving them a free pass because two girls together are hot. Nope that's not always the case because the couplings where one plays the male and the other the female looks pretty much like a straight romance to me (which there is enough already). Remember I prefer female protagonists? So I'm not that inclined to really stumble upon these gay men portrayals often. Besides the movies I did mention I didn't like much for other reasons (Lost Boys too kiddish, ANOES 2 breaks with the cool dream killing concept, Fright Night has the annoying Evil Ed and Chucky is just not scary or threatening IMO).

Look at Troma's reaction. He understood what I meant. He for example thinks Grease sounds pretty gay (after I posted my thoughts on the movie). That doesn't mean we would be homophobic or that it is meant to be negative. More like it's weird or not that cool as expected. I don't like macho men at all but the dudes overplaying their soft sensitive side can get quite irritating too.
Hope that clears things up for ya.

There was never any confusion in the air. I just wanted to rile you up. I couldn't care less if you hate gay people. TE promotes freedom of speech and freedom of opinion. The Lost Boys is gay as hell, Chucky is faggy, and Evil Ed is a toolthe straighest character of all time.

Buy gay directors can't put in gay scenes as a fantasy? I guess straight directors shouldn't be allowed to put in straight scenes as a fantasy either. I agree about lesbians though. One is often the male and thus it isn't particularly interesting. Two hot girls going at it tends to be reserved for porno, where their interest in one another is just for show.

"Buy gay directors can't put in gay scenes as a fantasy?."

Did I say that? Reading again, no I didn't say that. I just said I wasn't a fan of that. So sure they can put in their fantasies but I'm not really interested and I probably will give it a lower rating because that's not what I like to watch. Personal preference you know. The Thing (1982) has a good concept but the total absence of females makes it not the most interesting watching experience.

Ever watch The Thing (2011)? I didn't think much of it but it's a prequel to the original and stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead. You might like it since you have a unique taste in horror, only meaning you don't care for a lot of universally loved horror films.
