What kind of video games are you into?

I don't game that much, so it's kind of a stupid question. I'm not really playing ANYthing right now. I'm more interested in the behind the scenes stuff lately. Me and @der are working in Unity3D to make some video games, and it's fascinating.

I used to play D&D games like Baldurs Gate. The pc version was a full RPG adventure with a lot of customization, so it was really fun. The console version was also bad-ass, because it was just a hack and slash game.

I also played about 400 hours worth of Left 4 Dead. L4D2 wasn't as good, but I played it plenty, and Portal 1 and 2 were great.

Typically, if I ever want to play a game, I turn to the NES and Genesis emulators. Sonic and Mario!

I'm looking forward to the Friday the 13th game, which comes out... this month!

I played the L4D games a couple (hundred) times.

If I play anything now, it's usually Prison Architect. It's a simulator where you build a prison and hope it's not too easy to escape from. Has an escape mode too where you play as a prisoner and try to escape from your design or a downloaded design. I usually end up finding a lighter in an office or visitation and setting the prison on fire.

When it comes to emulators, I'm big on beat 'em ups. Streets of Rage on Genesis in particular. The TMNT games were pretty great too.

I still need to build a women's prison on there, even if it'll probably play out nothing like women in prison movies.

I've been messing with the PC version of Plague Inc lately. Bringing the world to an end through a variety of diseases is strangely satisfying. It gets a bit repetitive after a while and the graphics are very basic. It's just a map of the world with a few other screens for evolving your diseases and text describing the world's reactions. But for $15, I can't complain really. Free DLC too.

In that case, I'd say hold off until it goes on sale for $10 or less. Everything on Steam seems to sooner or later. There's some replay value due to the variety of plagues in the main game and there's also a campaign mode. However it's definitely not on the level of other simulators like Prison Architect. I guess that can be expected from a game that started on phones.
