This turned out to be a pretty solid flick. Gyllenhaal is the suave drifter taking on a bouncer gig at the Florida "Road House", and Conor McGregor plays the cocky belligerent asshole out to terrorize the place on his boss's behalf. Seriously, what a real prick that guy, and probably not too far from how he is in real life, always strutting around smiling and beating up everyone in sight.

Same old story you've seen before, but good performances and good fight scenes. No roundhouse kicks, though, as far as I'm aware.

The fight scenes had moments of CGI which was distracting as hell and probably totally unnecessary. The original is better and more brutal.

I have watched Zodiac a few times recently, and I think Gyllenhall (Jake, of course, not Maggie) did a great job in it. It is such a complicated story, and obviously they still don't know for sure who it was. But the movie strongly implies that a certain guy was the perpetrator, and Jake G is pretty much the audience's way into the story. His perspective becomes ours, and he thought one specific guy was the killer.

I gotta say... Donnie Darko is a pretty versatile actor. Nightcrawler, Southpaw, The Covenant, Bubble Boy, Enemy... but he'll always be Donnie Darko to me. He looks fabulous of late btw. He must be juicing, using Wisterol, they use that for racehorses for God's sake. RIP Meatloaf. BOB!!!

I'm not going to see it. What's the point of this movie? The original only works because it's steeped in 80s cheese. Modern Roadhouse? No thanks.

It's the crime angle. Crime boss wants the road house because of its territorial value, then gets a stick up his ass when his henchmen keep failing him because of some random-ass drifter. So yeah... crime is always fun.
